Front Row Seats Now Available for Airplane Enthusiasts at Craig Airport
The Airport’s New Observation Deck Open for Plane Spotters
Craig Airport, now has a covered observation deck where airplane enthusiasts can comfortably watch planes take off and land. In the number of annual take offs and landings, Craig Airport is the busiest airport in Jacksonville Aviation Authority’s (JAA) four airport system.

Observers can relax in one of the rocking chairs or enjoy lunch at the picnic table. There is also a speaker in the observation deck allowing people to listen in on conversations between the control tower and aircraft.

“We regularly have observers here at Craig Airport. There is just so much to see because of the variety of activity taking place here on a daily basis,” said Craig Airport Manager Tiffany Gillem. “We’re so proud now to offer a comfortable spot where people can relax and enjoy watching all the different types of aircraft.”

Observers at Craig airport can see everything from JSO helicopters to mosquito control airplanes, civil air patrol aircraft and even the occasional blimp. They can also watch students learning to fly, and of course, seasoned pilots flying as well.

Craig Airport is located at 855-1 St. Johns Bluff Road North.
